Istället stängs man in i den dominerande världsbilden.

Mitokondrier verkar i våra celler.

1. "There is one feature of the authoritarian character which has misled many observers: a tendency to defy authority and to resent any kind of influence from ”above”. Sometimes this defiance overshadows the whole picture and the submissive tendencies are in the background. This type of person will constantly rebel against any kind of authority, even one that actually furthers his interests and has no elements of suppression. … In persons of the first type in whom the rebellious attitude is in the centre of the picture, one is easily led to believe that their character structure is just the opposite to that of the submissive masochistic type. It appears as if they are persons who oppose every authority on the basis of an extreme degree of independence. They look like persons who, on the basis of their inner strength and integrity, fight those forces that block their freedom and independence. However, the authoritarian character’s fight against authority is essentially defiance. It is an attempt to assert himself and to overcome his own feeling of powerlessness by fighting authority, although the longing for submission remains present, whether consciously or unconsciously. The authoritarian character is never a ”revolutionary”; I should like to call him a 'rebel'." Erich Fromm, Escape From Freedom, New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1994, först publicerad 1941, s 145.

Satyagraha - Gandhi citat

"Satyagraha means general civil disobedience but we must develop the capacity of disobey laws." (4 december 1925)

"satyagraha is a kind of education in the real sense of the term" (10 mars 1908)

"Satyagraha, then, is literally holding on to Truth and it means, therefore, Truth-force."(23 mars 1921)

"Satyagraha means disobedience to every law of the Government. Disobedience of the salt law is one item of such satyagraha. Such disobedience is our duty; it is our right." (16 mars 1930)

"Satyagraha means truth evenagainst cunning, non-violence against violence, forbearance against anger and love against hatred." (26 juli 1931)

"He to whom satyagraha means nothing more than civil disobedience has never understood satyagraha. No doubt the rigid interpretation of satyagraha does include within its meaning civil disobedience. But only he who has mastered the art of obedience to law knows the art of disobedience to law. Only he who thoroughly
knows how to construct may destroy." (11 maj 1919)

"Satyagraha is not a game in which one might either win or lose." (2 april 1914)

"Satyagraha is based on non-violence." (14 mars 1915)

"Like air, satyagraha is all-pervading. It is infectious, which means that all people—big and small, men and women—can become satyagrahis." (2 september 1917)

"Every volunteer taking signatures has to remember that a single intelligent recruit to satyagraha is worth a hundred signatories (...). Volunteers must therefore never aim at merely increasing the number of signatories." (26 april 1918)

"I take a perfect storm to involve the unusual intersection of a number of serious, and mutually reinforcing, problems, which creates an unusual and perhaps unprecedented challenge. In my metaphor of the perfect moral storm, the three problems (or “storms”) are all obstacles to our ability to behave ethically." (s 6-7)

"prefer to put resources into adaptation (from which it expects benefits), rather than mitigation (which tends to benefit the future). Moreover, even within the category of adaptation, the current generation will have an incentive to prioritize projects and strategies that are more beneficial to it (e.g., temporary “quick fixes”) over those that seem best from an intergenerational point of view. In short, we should expect shadow solutions." (s 200)

"If a generation experiences a severe abrupt change, we might expect longterm concerns (such as with mitigation) to be crowded out in the finite pool of worry by more immediate concerns. We might also expect such a generation to be morally justified in ignoring those concerns, to at least some extent." (s 207)

"Under some circumstances actions that harm innocent others may be morally permissible on grounds of selfdefense, and such circumstances may arise in the climate change case." (s 40)

"it is likely to welcome any rationale that appears to justify its behavior." (s 45)

"The temptation to pass the buck on to the future, the poor, and nature is very strong. So, the incentive to disengage is high." (s 9)
